AA.VV
A breakthrough; a desire-partly misunderstood-for regeneration and revival; a refusal to remain stagnant, stranded; at any rate a thrust towards something completely new, and diferent: This is perhaps the reason for the fascination of the Futurism movement for the many people who havebeen inspired and attracted by it. This collective exhibition starting with Futurism, a century after the publication of the Manifesto by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, is especially timely, if we pause to reflect on the scope and influence of the most important historical italian avant-garde movement on trends and developments, both artistic and social, in this country. This exhibition enables us to take stock of their importance by starting from particular historical period, which we can now profitably and instructively reinterpret with hindsight, seeing its ramifications in the present and the urge to experiment that is an important part of our contemporary society.
in keeping with the concept of curatorship that charactizes the Gamec and the spirit of the Futurist movement itself the objective of relating the avant-garde of that period with that of today, of fusing the differrent arts and disciplines, opening up new spaces of significance that look ahead, towards a future that is progressively accelerating.
Even more, it is important and significant that the conception anbd realization of a major exhibition about the Future of Futurism should be held in bergamo, a city with an outstanding industrial culture which today bases its prospects for the future ,with ever greater determination,on research and innovation
