Abandoned Planet is the latest urban exploration title from Carpet Bombing Culture. In this title, photographer Andre Govia takes us on a journey through his explorations.
Govia explains at the start of this book that the idea is to preserve these abandoned places by taking photographs before they simply become too dangerous or inaccessible to enter, or get demolished. Govia has explored everything, from manor houses to car graveyards abandoned hospitals and many more.
With only a short introduction, the book is mainly the stunning images Govia has captured over the years. It's hard to believe that some of these locations exist, and looking at these images makes you wonder why some of the locations were left to rot in the first place when they could have been restored to their former glory.
Nevertheless, as Govia points out, they will now be preserved on paper and in digital files, a snapshot of what they are like now, before they decay further.
The images here are intriguing and will provide hours of viewing pleasure. Here, you're getting to see places that most people will never get to experience, in print or in the flesh. Every time you look at an image, you'll notice something different, an object in the background, or something about it that keeps you coming back for more.
Urban exploration is a subject that splits opinions, however here is proof that these places hide stunning secrets of the past which would otherwise be lost to everyone if they aren't documented.
