AA.VV
Office Buildings in Finland presents 14 contemporary Finnish office buildings designed by Finlands leading architects The selection of projects in the book has been made by Reijo Jallinoja, professor of architecture and head of an architects office. Each building is presented through photographs, plans and technical details, together with the architects own brief descriptions. The project presentations are complemented by architect Panu Lehtovuoris article on the office building as as a site for urban innovation.
Office Buildings in Finland aspires to create a wide perspective on the various trends in current Finnish office architecture. In the design of the buildings special attention has been given to, for instance, massing, glazed towers, combinations of different façade materials, and high-tech or industrial aesthetics. Most of the buildings are completely new but extensions and renovations are also included.
If the contents of the present book had to be summed up in a few words, it would be .humane high-technology,. The examples in the book show that Finnish office architecture can represent both cutting-edge high-technology and a humane and caring architecture. Office Buildings in Finland offers fresh ideas for architects and students within the building profession, as well as everyone interested in contemporary architecture.
